Costa Mesa is a city in Orange County, California. Costa Mesa was incorporated in 1953 and once was a semi-rural farming community of 16,840. After World War II, the city's population surged as thousands trained at the Santa Army Air Base returned home to their family. The population nearly quintupled. Today the city is primarily suburban with a population of approximately 109,000.
