Aliso Viejo, CA, Area Information
Aliso Viejo is the newest city in the County of Orange, just about 55 miles south of Los Angeles. It is bordered by Laguna Beach your only 15 minutes to stick your feet in the sand and to the west is Laguna Hills to the east with Laguna Niguel on the southeast. It is known for its urban feel and most residents are home owners. The area is attractive to families and young professionals and the residents are typically more liberal in their views. Living in Aliso Viejo is known to be one of the best places to live in Southern California with plenty of restaurants, coffee shops and parks. The public schools are very highly rated.
This planned community of 6,600 acres were originally part of a 26,000-acre parcel owned by the Moulton Family who took over title from the Mexican Government in 1842. Over the years, portions of the ranch were sold and became Leisure World, Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel. Aliso Viejo was the first planned community in California to plan a projected workforce with the number of homes built in the community. Every home in Aliso Viejo is located no further than 1 ½ miles from Pacific park, a 900-acre business park and town center projected to create 22,00 jobs and to encourage live and work opportunities within the city. A fun fact about Aliso Viejo: both Ryan Getlaf, Captain of the Anaheim Ducks NHL hockey team and McKayla Maroney 2012 Olympic champion gymnast, reside in Aliso Viejo.
